24,000 new monthly visitors with republished content

The challenge
Acme SEO* is a large digital marketing media business with a few different revenue streams, including SaaS tools, affiliate commissions, and digital courses.
Their team had recently acquired hundreds of new articles on a competitor’s blog through an acquisition. But there was a problem—the content was in serious need of a refresh. Posts dated back over a decade and many of the tips, tools, and images were completely irrelevant for today’s digital marketers.
Acme had a simple goal. The content had already proven successful with users, but it needed to be brought up-to-date to reach a new generation of buyers for their products.
Our solution
Working closely with the Acme content team, we helped triage articles. Each article fell into one of three categories:
- Too outdated to modernize (e.g., a guide on Google+)
- Relevant enough as-is (e.g., how to write great headlines)
- Strong potential after revisions (e.g., marketing on Facebook groups)
To ensure Acme’s efforts and budget went to the best opportunities first,\ we focused our efforts exclusively on the third category, revising over 40 articles.
Our revisions included modernization and updates, but we also made adjustments to each piece to improve engagement, readability, search performance, and conversions.
The results
The 40+ articles we helped Acme revise and republish quickly began bringing in high-quality traffic. Today, they make up a healthy part of Acme’s traffic and domain authority.
Approximately one year after the projects, the articles had collected 11,436 new backlinks and were bringing in an average of 24,055 monthly visitors.
And as time goes on, those pieces continue to show more and more success.

The challenge
Email Solutions* is a SaaS company with a platform for customized email templates and open and click tracking, targeted at sales leaders and managers for outreach and internal communication.
Despite an active SEO campaign, Email Solutions wasn’t seeing an increase in targeted traffic. Most of the content they had published simply wasn’t drawing in valuable traffic.
As a result, they were getting much of their converting traffic was coming through paid ads, but it was an expensive solution.
Email Solution’s goal was to start bringing in high-quality traffic organically instead of through paid ads.
Our solution
When we partnered with Email Solutions, we noticed that some of the best blog pieces were how-to articles on email-related topics.
We decided to capitalize on this previous success, but with a slightly more targeted approach. We would focus on instructional blog posts that specifically highlighted Email Solution’s top features.
The posts would demonstrate other manual ways for building advanced email features but come back to the ease and speed of Email Solution’s process. They’d end with a call to action promoting their free trial signup.
We created five posts targeted for different features of Email Solution’s offering.
Results
The five posts were a hit for Email Solutions, bringing in targeted traffic that would otherwise have come in through paid ads.
Due to their more selective nature, none of the posts generate—or were designed to generate—huge traffic spikes, but instead bring in a steady drip of targeted, purchase-oriented customers.
We measured the success of the campaign using Ahref’s traffic value analysis. This measurement places a dollar amount on traffic, indicating its value if purchased in ads. This dovetailed nicely with their goal of supplementing their paid ad campaigns with organic traffic.
Combined, the pieces generate an average of $18,024 in paid traffic value each year, or $1,502 per month, bringing valuable, targeted traffic to Email Solutions and freeing up their advertising budget for other uses.
